A small hill town called Dakpathar, is located in Vikasnagar, Dehradun district. It is 45 kilometres northwest of the city of Dehradun on the left bank of the Yamuna River. Dakpathar is located near the Shivalik range's foothills, around 790 metres (2,590 feet) above sea level. It is home to the Dakpathar Barrage, which creates a recreational reservoir alongside the town.The Yamuna River and the Tonnes River near Khodri combine to form the 518 m (1,699 ft) long dam. It allows water to be diverted into the East Yamuna Canal so that the Dhakrani and Dhalipur Power Plants can generate hydroelectric power from it.
